Some rough news.


so, theres Bad news and Good news, I'll start with the bad first.

so, UE5.6 has pretty much decided to Break on me, I cant open any blueprints or levels without a crash, and with the Error I'm getting, it seems to range from corrupted Editor files, to driver conflicts, to Corrupted meshes (objects) to...VR?

I've Done a clean install of UE5.6, my drivers, and Deleted nearly everything but the Content folder in the project...nothing changed.

Even backups aren't working, So needless to say, I'm a little lost.


But, theres some good news too.

I tried UE5.7 and it works flawlessly...! But theres a problem there. UE5.7 is in Preview, meaning not stable for public releases, and None of my plugins i use are available there yet.


So what's the plan?

I plan on trying a few more things with 5.6, and if I cant get it working by Monday  evening, im just going to switch development to 5.7.

In that case, I'll have to see how much the missing plugins affect the game, if its too severe, I probably won't have another public build until there's at least SOME of them back. If it's not bad, I'll probably just release new builds labeled  [ UNSTABLE ]



I Know this is pretty unfortunate, I just wish there was something more I could do. UE was acting weird since my PC Updated last night, so im assuming the update might've caused it...?

Either way, im just glad development can continue. I'll keep y'all up to date.


EDIT: just found out you can't package a game with a Preview version of unreal... which makes sense, lol So I'll just keep working on the game til the Stable release comes out, or 5.6 Suddenly decides to work again.
